Yipshanks is free to use, free to inspect, and free to modify under the terms below. By using the app you agree to these terms.
License
Yipshanks is released under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. The source is hosted at NinthStarFoundation/yipshanks on Codeberg. A separate commercial license is available from Justin Chase Ford for use cases that the AGPL does not cover. Contact admin@ninthstar.org.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Use it because it's useful. Do not bet your job on it.
Acceptable use
Yipshanks is for personal scoring, friendly tournaments, and the social rounds that relationships are built on. Don't use it to harass anyone, to publish content that is illegal where you are, or to impersonate other people on a public leaderboard. Hosts of tournaments are responsible for what gets posted under their codes.
Wagers
Yipshanks does not facilitate, hold, escrow, or process any money between players. The wager-tracking feature is a number you type into a private record on your device, no different than writing it on a scorecard. Whether wagering on a round of golf is legal in your jurisdiction is your responsibility. Verify your local laws. If in doubt, don't.
AI features
If you configure an AI provider key, your prompts and the round context the app attaches are sent directly from your browser to that provider's API. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google each have their own terms and privacy practices. Read theirs. Yipshanks is not responsible for what those services produce, charge, or do with the data they receive.
Tournaments and leaderboards
Public tournaments and any rounds you choose to publish to the public board are visible to anyone with the code. Private tournaments are scoped by code only — anyone the code reaches can read the leaderboard. Don't put a name or detail on a public board you wouldn't want a stranger to see.
Trademarks
"Yipshanks" and the Yipshanks brand mark are unregistered trademarks of Justin Chase Ford. Don't use the name or mark for products that aren't built from the Yipshanks source.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Justin Chase Ford, Ninth Star Foundation, nor any contributor is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to lost rounds, missed cuts, broken hearts, or club thrown into water hazards.
Changes
If these terms change, the date above changes with them. Continued use after a substantive change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising from them is to be resolved in the state or federal courts located in that state.
